Weekend notes & link love #30

Happy first Saturday of 2016, guys! How did your first day of the new year go? I was up and running quite early (just as I hoped for), getting a head start on my 2016 goals and plans. While I was drafting a bunch of January posts, I was watching the snow fall - it made our cat go completely beserk, and it was just about the funniest thing I can imagine! In other news, I still have 10 days away from work ahead of myself, and I'm planning to savor my long vacation to the very last bit.
Have the loveliest first January weekend, and be sure to scroll down through a few of my favorite reads from this past week.

This is a great checklist of things you need to find and figure out when you want to launch a side hustle. I took a lot of diligent notes! (via Levo)

Two words, guys: recipe fails. Anyone who spends some time in the kitchen knows they're inevitable. And they're beyond hilarious, as proven by two of my favorite food bloggers: Jessica of How sweet it is and Lindsay of Pinch of Yum. They are both my heroes for sharing these! (via How sweet it is and Pinch of Yum)

Camille shared 16 quotes to help you conquer the 2016, and if at least some of them don't fire you up, I don't know what can. (via Camille Styles)

New Year is all about good intentions, resolutions and new dreams and plans for me, and in order to achieve them, I need to up my productivity game. I'm definitely going to give Caitlin's tips a try. (via Glitter Guide)

Failure is an inevitable part of our lives, there's no denying it. It's how you face it, how you stand up to it and how you pull yourself back together that truly matters. In Vera Wang's wise words, it's important to know when to walk away and start something new. (via The Cut)

And a few things you might have missed on Macarons and Pearls (hint: there's quite a hefty dose of nostalgia involved):

I shared the most important lessons I learned in 2015. It was definitely a year for the books!

I took a trip down the memory lane, and picked up my favorite posts of 2015. Lots of good stuff there, if I dare say so myself.

My December chic list made me stop and smell the roses.

And food-wise, I was swooning all over these adorable and delicious NYE appetizers

However, don't bother leaving any "Follow me!" comments that you copy & paste on dozens of blogs at a time and which show that you have absolutely no interest in my blog. I will follow your blog if I love it, not because you ordered me to do it.
