Inspired by: Calligraphy with Laura Hooper

Images by Abby Jiu, via Style me Pretty Living

I've been long dreaming of learning the art of calligraphy. With my strong affinity for beautiful things and designs, it comes as no surprise that this unique and ... art has caught my eye. Especially since these days, it seems to be jumping at me wherever I look: on my Instagram and Pinterest feeds, in the blog headers, on the posters scattered around my city.

Unfortunately, there is currently no calligraphy course or workshop I could attend in my vicinity (I'm still looking into it). That's why I was beyond excited that I was able to live vicariously through the Style me Pretty Living. Their feature on the workshop with Laura Hooper, captured by the amazingly talented Abby Jiu, looks and sounds nothing short of spectacular, and I just wish I could have been there, too. But at least now I know that I can purchase my own calligraphy set, look up some online courses or tutorials, and try my hand at this extraordinary art branch. Will you be joining me?

PS: Of course I'm eager to learn calligraphy, but to be honest, in this feature, it was the florals who really stole my heart! Aren't they just the dreamiest and prettiest thing ever? Katie of Petal and Print truly has golden hands!

Etsy finds: Heart of Gold

And just like that, the blogosphere has gone Valentine's day-crazy. Absolutely. My Bloglovin feed screams Valentine's day. My Pinterest feed has gone all pink and red, and dotted with hearts. My Instagram feed brims with cute DIY's, pink cupcakes and various ideas on what to do with your significant other, or with your girlfriends. But somehow, all of this red & pink cuteness fails to make me excited. Don't get me wrong :I love V-day and I love the message that it conveys (the "spread-the-love-around-you" kind, not the "spend-your-paycheck-on-ugly-roses-and-tacky-chocolates" one). But if I stumble upon one more pink buttercream frosting, I might start screaming. So when I was thinking of what kind of gifts I would be giving away this year to my loved ones, one thought kept running through my brain: what better way to celebrate their hearts of gold with .... drumroll, please ... gold hearts? Groundbreaking, I know.

It's not always easy to find heart-shaped objects that aren't tacky or kitchy, but I think that if you're looking for something chic, feminine and elegant, these picks fit the bill perfectly. Personally, I would be happy to receive any of them (or, more exactly, all of them :), but right now, I'm planning on add this adorable mug to my ever growing collection first thing this afternoon.

Now tell me, what is your opinion, when it comes to all that red & pink V-day overload? Do you love it? Hate it? Ignore it? Tell me all about it in the comments!

Inspired by: Italian glamour

Images via Madame Figaro

In my quest for putting a little more glamour into my everyday wardrobe choices, I've stumbled upon this beautiful editorial, and I was instantly enamored. No one does elegant and slightly dramatic glamour better than the Italian designers and these photos are a tribute to their skills and dexterity when it comes to clean shapes, luxurious fabrics, statement jewelry and classy accessories.
I think it's best to let the images speak for themselves and then diligently take notes.
