French beauty secret: Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse

It's been a long time since I last wrote about one of my favorite subjects: French style & beauty, and it's time to remedy that. My last trip to Paris left me with tons of new inspiration, and I'm looking forward to sharing it all with you. Today we'll be diving into the enchanted world of dry oils, which are one of the best kept French beauty secrets. It all started with Nuxe's Huile Prodigieuse, which I've already mentioned on the blog several times. My love for this beauty miracle is practically endless (as you can see on the photos; and that's not even my entire collection!). So why is it so extraordinary?

This multipurpose dry oil was born in 1991 in Paris. It's composed of 6 precious oils (borage, St. John'ss wort, sweet almond, camellia, hazelnut and macadamia) and vitamin E. All these powerful natural ingredients promise to nourish, repair and soften your face, body and hair. Plus, this dry oil has a fabulous warm scent that will remind you of sun, sand and long days spent lazing in the sun. When it comes to dry oils, a little goes a long way. You don't need to use tons of the stuff to get the results. And you can forget your worries, too: this oil definitely won't leave a sticky residue on your skin.

These are my favorite ways to use this beauty miracle:

1) Treat yourself to an extra dose of hydration: add a drop of Huile Prodigieuse to your usual day or night cream, and apply with circular motions, giving your face a light massage.

2) Mix a drop with your foundation for a smooth glide. It will give you a healthy glow and dewy finish without being greasy. Or you can add a touch of the Huile Or (the shimmery golden version) on your cheeks and eyelids o highlight your tan in summer. Or you can mix it with your lip balm and apply to your dry and chapped lips.

3) Use Huile Prodigieuse as a pre-shampoo treatment. Coat your lengths in a dose of dry oil, put your hair in a high bun or wrap it in a towel, and let it work for 30 minutes. Than wash your hair as per usual.

4) For a smooth blowout, vaporize a little bit of Huile on your hair brush and brush your tresses thoroughly. You'll get a supple and glossy finish.

5) Apply a drop of Huile on your dry ends, on those bad hair days prior to your scheduled haircut.

6) Apply the Huile after the shower, on a slightly damp skin. It will make your skin smooth, luminous, supple and heavenly scented. But don't worry, the scent won't interfere with your fragrance: it'll fade after 30 minutes or so.

7) In summer, apply the shimmery golden version on your legs, arms and collarbones, to highlight your tan and give your skin a subtle shimmer.

8) Huile Prodigieuse will also save your desperately dry hands: it'll give them a healthy dose of hydration, but it won't leave them greasy like other hand creams can do. It's a miracle for nails and cuticles, too!

9) Treat yourself to a moment o pure bliss and luxury: add a few drops of Huile to your bath. It's my favorite way to relax and unwind after a particularly tiring week.

So, there you have it: all my ways to use this wonderful product. Talk about multipurpose! I strongly recommend you give it a try, and I would love to hear about your experiences. Have you ever tried dry oils? Let me know in the comments below.

Glamorous touch: Graphic throw pillows

Image credits: 1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6 // 7 // 8

Anyone who recently repainted his / her apartment will agree with me: home makeovers are extremely messy! It's always so easy to just throw all the stuff in big boxes before the works begin, it's the putting-it-all-back part that takes forever. I, for once, spent more than a week sorting through all my bedroom/home office/wardrobe clutter, getting rid of all the useless items I no longer love (although I suspect my sprained thumb is responsible for this delay). Side note: giving stuff away is extremely rewarding, especially when you know that it could still serve someone else. So the clothes I no longer wore went to my younger cousin and my old bed found a new home in a shelter.

And speaking of beds, one thing that makes me extremely giddy about my bedroom makeover (besides the hot pink accent wall, obviously), is my new couch. It's rather ginormous, upholstered in the most gorgeous grey fabric, and it doubles as my bed (I love the versatility of things!). And although it came with two matching throw pillows, I feel like adding some more color, pattern and texture is in order. Of course, picking the right options is the hardest part. I already spent hours browsing through Etsy and Society 6, trying to find the perfect match. The problem is, if I bought all those I really love, I would need to get four more couches as well! I managed to "narrow down" my favorites to a dozen pillow covers (I'll have my pillows custom made, otherwise I would spend a fortune on shipping), and I'm seriously thinking about starting a collection. After all, it would be much more fun to have more options that I could shuffle around and mix and match according to my mood. What do you think? Do you have a favorite source for affordable and gorgeous throw pillows? If so, don't hesitate to share!

From my kitchen: Zucchini pizza slices

Although I'm currently as far from being a vegetarian as it gets (hello, delicious burger), I'm not exaggerating when I say that I could live all through summer eating just raw veggies. Between the farmers' markets and my parents' garden, my supply of fresh produce is never ending, and I couldn't be more grateful for it. Cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, onions, sweet name it. They are the best source of inspiration when it comes to my summer cooking. Although in summer, I don't spend that much time around my stove, I occasionally make an exception. And these "pizza" slices were definitely worth it! There is no dough involved, just a bunch of delicious fresh veggies. My favorite kind!

Zucchini pizza slices
You'll need:

* 1 large zucchini (4-5cm wide)
* 3 garlic cloves
* homemade tomato sugo
* olive oil
* 4-5 tomatoes, not too ripe
* mozzarella or parmesan (or both)
* a mix of dried Italian herbs (thyme, rosemary, oregano, basil)
* salt

1. Wash the zucchini under a stream of water. Pat dry with a paper towel, then cut into 1cm thick slices. Place them on a baking sheet brushed with olive oil.
2. In a small bowl, mix the  .... garlic, a spoonful of olive oil and 5 spoonfuls of sugo.
3. Spread a teaspoon of this mixture over each zucchini slice.
4. Top with sliced tomatoes, sprinkle with salt and herbs.
5. Place in an oven preheated to 180°C. Bake for 35 minutes, or until the zucchini is very tender (try with a sharp knife).
6. Pull out the oven, top with shredded mozzarella or parmesan, then place under the grill for 5 more minutes (or until the cheese is melted and golden).
7. Enjoy with a slice of bread and a glass of chilled white wine, preferably al fresco.

Bon appétit!

Shopping: Chic in black & white

With all the bright and cheerful summer colors currently living in my closet, sometimes I find it challenging to properly accessorize. I love the colorblocking as much as the next girl, but sometimes, going out all decked out in pink, orange and green isn't an option. And this is exactly when the chic black & white accessories usually save the day. There's hardly anything more classy, elegant and sophisticated than this classic combination. Whether you pick high heels or ballet flats, structured tote or a sleek clutch, simple studs or statement drop earrings, you're bound to feel a lot like modern day Audrey Hepburn.

Do you own any chic black & white accessories? Are you planning to add them to your wardrobe?

Life's little luxuries #2

As a lover and admirer of all things pretty, chic and feminine, I am able to spend countless hours browsing the aisles of my favorite shops and department stores (both real and the virtual ones), discovering new beautiful things and products. At the same time, I'm a firm believer that life should be all about the little things that make us happy. I don't need a fancy island vacation every other month or a huge diamond on my finger to feel happy. It's the little, seemingly unimportant details that matter the most: a relaxing massage after a tiring week, a new book that's been sitting on my bedside table, waiting patiently for its turn, a beauty product that makes me feel gorgeous or a great meal, always including the dessert.

These are my current life's little luxuries, that are making my everyday life more beautiful, stylish and chic. And the best part? They're all under $30. Proof, that luxe and glamour don't always have to cost you a fortune!

Inspired by: Lauren Conrad's dream office

Images via Style Caster

It seems that the bad luck has been determined to follow me everywhere lately. After the exhaustion of my lawsuit I escaped to Paris, which was fabulous of course, but arriving home without my suitcase wasn't exactly the best end to my vacation. Lucky thing, it ended up finding its way back to me, but it really wasn't worth the stress (imagine spending a week shopping in Paris, and then coming home without all your purchases. Not cool.)

Back home, I set to make over my bedroom / home office, and the first thing I managed to do was spraining the thumb on my right hand (yup, I'm right handed. Again, not cool!). My new room is coming together beautifully (I'll be sharing photos here soon!), but the pain in my hand isn't going anywhere for a while. I earned myself a fancy new accessory that makes holding a pen almost impossible, and using my laptop's keyboard isn't much fun either (proof: writing these few lines takes impossibly long time).

It comes as no surprise then, that I've been feeling quite blah these past few days, missing my usual mojo and being overall cranky and grumpy. Frankly, I'm quite fed up with myself already :) And I'm really hoping to be back to normal soon! In the meantime, I had to share with you something extremely beautiful I stumbled upon: Lauren Conrad's Paper Crown office. I love everything about this space, right down to the last detail: it's so feminine, chic, sophisticated and glamorous, just like its owner. I want to move right in! Wouldn't it be a dream to work everyday in such an inspiring and elegant space? I'm pretty sure my productivity would shoot right up. I'll definitely pull inspiration from these pictures while putting finishing touches to my own new office space.
