Onion tart

Printable recipe here

I love when a meal or a recipe connects to a special moment (or moments) of my life: I've always loved recalling beautiful memories while enjoying a delicious meal. And this tart is definitely one of such meals: it reminds me of my au-pair years in France, because it was one of my adoptive French family's favorite dishes. On weekends we had a habit of gathering around one large dining table (there were always at least ten people), pcking up on fresh baguette, drinking wine, cuting up this tart and talking about our week. I still remember how special these moments were for me, and I always felt like I was part of that huge and amazing family. That's why I didn't really mind the fact that I cried my eyes out each time I was chopping the onions (that's what I call crying for a good cause). Anyhow, even after several years, this is still a staple on our dinner table, and every time I eat it, I feel so wonderfully French again!

  3. I'm not a big fan of onions, they are too strong for me. I like them in minimal amounts mixed in some sort of dish so the flavour is hidden, but I don't like them on their own. This does look yummy though, it looks quite appetising. I also love your smiley face spatula! That's so cute! I posted about Dodo Jewellery on my blog this morning, it's a brand I love and I think you might like it too :) :)

  5. The carmelization makes the onions so much sweeter. I love this tart with olives and a glass of dry rose wine. Yummy!
