My first hater

Originally, I was planning to write a post about my love of tangerine color and a few tips on how to style it, but yesterday, something happend to me that rubbed me the wrong way and forced me to react. I´ve been blogging for more than a year and it´s been such a fulfilling and empowering experience! My blog constantly challenges my skills, my imaginations, it makes me think outside the box and discover the world in a whole different way. I cherish every single minute I spend working on my little "baby", I cherish every single comment I receive and I love receiving even those that disagree with me and point out something I missed or something I didn´t get right. After all, it´s all about the learning process, and becoming a better person everyday. What I don´t understand however, are the pointless and injuring hater comments that hit below the belt and are meant to hurt you. I received my first true hater comment yesterday, and while it certainly didn´t make me crumple on the ground and cry my eyes out, it was an altogether unpleasant experience. Especially when the comment came with lots of harsh and defamatory words and no signature. I think this is one thing common to all the pathetic haters: their lives are so sad and miserable that they prefer to make other people sad instead of dealing with their own insecurities. And I´m sad for them.

I´m more than ready to receive a constructive criticism that will help me get better in what I´m doing. But I´m really not interested in these losers who hate me because I´m doing something they will never be able to do: live my life to the fullest and do what I truly love. If they hate what I do, they are more than welcome to stop reading, shut the tab and never come back again. Or, if they really want to express their hatred and distaste, they should at least have the balls to sign their rant with their name, and not present themselves as "Anonymous".

I´m sure the person concerned will recognise herself, if she reads this. And I apologize to all of you, my wonderful readers who support me and encourage me in every possible way, to burden you with this issue. But since the "lovely" reader didn´t leave me the chance to reply to her personally, this was the only way for me to react.

I still think that starting my own blog was one of the best decisions I´ve ever made, especially because of all the wonderful people I could connect with in the blogosphere. You all deserve a huge thanks for making every single day of my life special!
And since I still want to share my love for the fun and optimistic tangerine hue with you, here´s my Friday´s Fancies dream outfit:

  1. dear, don't even waste your thoughts on ignorant persons like that one. the person who insults somebody else and doesn't leave her/his name is a true coward. and you can always stop allowing anon. comments (I think almost everyone has some kind of profile to log in). I for an example did that to stop spam comments (ads etc.). anyway, be strong and don't mind losers! you're the loveliest lady and I'm always glad to talk to you through e-mails and comments! :)

  3. What a pity that there are people like that one the blogosphere! But it's nice to see that everyone experiences it from time to time so it's not that big a deal. Brush it off and keep on doing what you enjoy! :)

I love that shirt, orange is one of my fave colours so I'm really enjoying this week's Friday's Fancies! Have a nice weekend! xxx

  4. haters are my motivators PLUS you have to think about the positive views on it. people hate because you have something they want and don't have it means your doing something right if you have no haters your not doing something right. as much as i would love for every single person to like me, thats unrealistic and no one person s going to be loved by everyone. think about celebrities and how famous they are and how they are loved by millions and also hated by millions. miserable people hate to see anyone succeed in anything.

love the tangerine color for spring and summer

don't let it get to you, don't give it another thought. then they win

  5. I think that still you have gained and are gaining so much more positive feedback by writing this blog,
    than by having negative responses.
Just keep on doing what you love as enthusiastic as possible and that's the best weapon to show all
the losers that you just don't give a f*** what they think!

  6. Congratulations on your first hate comment! Hahaha! Don't worry, dear, some people will dislike even the nicest person on the planet. I mean, some people even says harsh things about God. ^_^

  8. You are an absolutely fantastic blogger Ivana and such a lovely person too - you've always been so nice and supportive of other bloggers!

It's a real shame that there are some hateful people on the blogosphere with no better way to spend their time than trying to bring someone else down.

  13. Lovely outfit ensemble! Ivana - I'm so sorry to hear that someone sent you such a rude message. Thank you for sharing what's on your mind, even though the majority of us don't know each other, this is still an outlet as blogger friends to support each other. I really love following you everyday and think you are wonderful! xxoo A-

    Great choices this week.

  15. I am sorry you had to deal with the negative feedback! On a positive note I am loving all the colorful pieces you picked out! I wish I was bold enough to wear them (although I am incorporating color more in my wardrobe!), because they are beautiful! Maybe I can start off small with the nail polish, love that color! I hope you have a wonderful day! And a fabulous weekend!

  16. Oh, come on! Don't pay attention, that would've been the best response to that hater, just keep what you're doing and what makes you happy, you're not hurting anyone.

  17. First of all, you and your blog are fabulous. Second, I'm dying over that Essie polish!!

I totally understand the need to vent about anonymous, mean comments (I had some hate over a light fixture post I did- I wish I could have told them "it's not your house, I don't care if you don't like it!"). I'll never understand people who post anonymous, negative feedback to strangers' blogs!

  18. Ivana, I'm really sorry to hear that you had to deal with this. If the person had an courage at all they would've at least signed their name to back up their words. You're a great blogger and will rise above this. I'm loving this tangerine color!

  20. Sweet, beautiful, dear, kind, talented blogging friend of mine: Do not let that "hater" rain on your colorful parade. Jealousy is a horrible thing, but you already know that, and you are above it. NOTHIN' but love coming from this corner.... Not to mention from ALL of your readers and admirers. You got it goin' on girl! xo

  21. So sorry to hear that you had to deal with such a rude comment. Life is too short. It's their loss if that's how they're choosing to live it. Karma will come back around.

I love your outfit!! I am obsessed with Essie polish & I haven't seen this orange one yet! Uh oh, adding it to my list. ;)

Just hopped over from the Friday Fancies & am so happy to have found your blog. We're now following. We decided to participate in the tangerine fun too...we're #70 on the link-up list...we'd love for you to check us out!!

  24. Ivana, Honestly I know how much it hurts when someone talks to harshly about something you put so much effort into. Yeah it stings and hurts... but at the end of the day you blog because YOU love it and not because you need someone else to like it.

But just so you know... I LOVE VISITING YOUR BLOG. You are always so sweet and charming and offering up the most creative recipes and ideas! Your style is chic and your sense of culinary flavors is amazing. Dont forget that!

  25. You handled it well Ivana. I say the same thing to myself if I come across a hater. Those sort of people are unhappy and do not like to see others happy. This is so sad! Blogging is such an amazing way for us to share all sorts of things and haters need to go away.

I love your blog! It is positive and fun, just like you!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Oh, Ivana, I am so sorry to read this :( I've never gotten a hater comment before, but to be honest? I probably would react in the crawl up in a ball and cry manner! Good for you for staying strong and not letting this mean person get you down. I've never understood why people find the need to be cruel to others. Love you and love your blog so much!!! <3 You have such incredible and sophisticated taste, and I long for your confidence and style!!! Remember how awesome you are!

PS This is kinda rude, but I am just picturing this anonymous hater sitting in a basement somewhere wearing Walmart sweatpants and an old tshirt while eating...a hotdog. Or chips. Or something just totally unglamorous. Essentially, she's probably just jealous of you!

    ReplyDelete
  27. ugh, I DO NOT understand why people do that, especially so immaturely as to not leave a signature. You and your blog are beautiful!

  29. I receive more than my fair share of hater comments, and I'm okay with it -- for the most part. Sure, it hurts occasionally, but you have to realize that - be it positive or negative - the writer recognizes that you are an important, positive force, and that is why they want to bring you down. We have to be the stronger people who can say, "Screw you," to those anonymous losers and continue doing our things. Let the haters hate. They're just jealous.

  32. Amen! I also thought once about writing a post about those kind of comments but I thought it wasn't word it... Just remember haters are you're biggest fans! And if you're blog wasn't growing and getting bigger who would take the time to say something bad to you.... Well that's how I feel about it... And thanks for sharing these because I'm sure were not the only ones with that kind of comments....

  36. People can be awful. Don't let what she said get to you. You have so many followers that love what you do (including me) and that's all that matters. She's probably just jealous :P

  37. Ivana, what you just wrote isn't just inspiring but it's a testament to who you are as a person. Keep doing what you are doing and let the haters hate, cause nothing will come out of it. If anything, all these people writing here now shows how how one can make friends across continents without even physically meeting and you should proud of how many such friends you made. Have a lovely weekend and looking forward to your next post x

  38. I'm sorry to hear about that. People can just be downright hateful. Keep on doing what you are doing. I absolutely LOVE working on my blog and I'm sure you feel the same way. Don't let anyone stop you from doing what you love!!

  40. Oh, haters. Personally I didn't even bother to post about them so they don't get the attention they so desperately want. But I see your point, and because writing about it felt right, it was what you were supposed to do. Don't let the idiots get you down, you are a fantastic person & blogger, no matter what a brainless individual says. If they don't have anything better to do than bitch about something anonymously, that's their loss. Just keep up the fabulous work, Ivana! I love reading your posts :) xoxo ♥

  41. I just looked at some of your older posts and have to say I enjoy reading your blog. I don't understand why someone would go around leaving mean comments. If you don't like a blog just don't read it... I feel like it really is as easy as that. Don't let those things bother you.
Also, you can make it so only people with accounts leave you comments. I have it set up in such a way that an anonymous person wouldn't be able to write to me.
Anyway... Let's follow each other:) I hope you come by and visit!

  42. I received the meanest comment ever a few months back and it really sucks. But the fact that these people don't have the guts to sign their mean comments just goes to show how pathetic they are. You're not all that tough if you hide behind an anonymous comment.

Just know it happens to all of us and has nothing to do with you :)

And also know that you kicked butt with this week's FF! Great picks!
