Beauty Essentials: Make-up

I´ve had a passion for beauty products for as long as I can remember. Even as a little girl, I used to sneak into my mom´s vanity case, and try on various eyeshadows, mascaras and lipsticks (no need to tell that the results were not always presentable :) This curiosity never left me, and even now I can get overly giddy when I find myself in the beauty department. I´d love to try all the products, buy all shades of nailpolish, find out new trends and colors. Sometimes it´s a hit, sometimes a miss. But the happiness of discovering something new is essential. I´ve already shared with you my skincare essentials and now it´s time for what I call my "painting material".
When it comes to make-up, I´m always ready to try new things and color combos. However, often in the morning, when I´m in a rush or when I feel particularly uninspired, I find myself reaching for the same old and time-proven essentials. These are the products I can always rely on:

1. Smashbox Photo Finish Primer, $36: Since I have an oily skin, a primer is an absolute necessity. This one is the best I´ve ever tested: thanks to it, my foundation stay put, and the oil produtction is (a little bit) tamed.

2. MaxFactor Xperience Weightless Foundation, 15,90. It covers the pores but doesn´t clog them, and it´s so lightweight that I can wear it even in summer.

3. Clarins Poudre Compacte Stop Brillance, $30. Another great ally in my neverending battle against the shiny skin.

4. Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat, $40. It´s always there when I need to cover the dark circles (that means every single day!)

5. Benefit Boi-ing Concealer, $26. Perfect for hiding the pimples.

6. Catrice Defining Duo Blush in Pink Grapefruit Shake. I got this cheapie for 3 euros in the drugstore, and I couldn´t be more surprised (pleasantly, of course). It has the perfect coral hue for the days when it seems that my skin is particularly dull. It´s bound to cheer you up!

7. Bobbi Brown Shimmer Wash Eyeshadow in Rose Gold, $20. It has just the right amount of color and shimmer to make my eyes pop, without being too apparent. Easy and elegant shade to pull off every day.

8. Chanel Crayon Yeux in Brun, $35.20. Perfect for the days when I feel that black would be too harsh.

9. Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner, $9.99. I´ve never been able to master the classic eyeliner, so this gel one is like a gift from heaven. Easy to use, it has the perfect jet black color, and stays put all day long.

10. L´Oréal Paris Voluminous Mascara Milion Lashes, $8.95. My lashes are practicaly invisible, so for me, the mascara is probably the most important make-up product. This one gives me a nice volume, doesn´t smudge and when I´m wearing it I can pretend I´m as fabulous as J.Lo :)

11. Lancôme Color Fever Lipstick in Prune Flush, $30.10. This is my go-to color when I´m in a rush. It makes me feel instantly pulled together and feminine, plus I can apply it even without a mirror!

12. Shiseido Pureness Oil-Control Blotting Papers, $18: this is definitely a must-have for any girl with oil-control obsession. I can´t leave the house without these little papers: they work extremely well and prevent me from putting still more and more powder on my face.

What are your must-have products, my lovelies? Do you have something you can´t live without? That´s always in your purse? Don´t hesitate to share!

  1. Thanks for posting this Ivana! I really needed some makeup suggestions ! I love the L'Oréal Million Lashes Mascara! It works so wonderfully, and it comes off fairly easily with the right remover. I also cannot live without blotting papers!

  2. So many great suggestions! I love blotting papers with all my heart (I'm an oily skinned girl, unfortunately) and during the summer I usually sport Laura Mercier's tinted moisturizer and Benefit's brow-zings (I also have barely any eyebrows so filling them in is essential!).

However, don't bother leaving any "Follow me!" comments that you copy & paste on dozens of blogs at a time and which show that you have absolutely no interest in my blog. I will follow your blog if I love it, not because you ordered me to do it.
